What happened after Restaurant Makeover?

Cafe Asia, in Toronto, was the eighth episode of Restaurant Makeover's third season and first aired on 2006-11-20. Rotten Tomatoes' episode guide describes it as designers trying to help two cousins make their restaurant more inviting, so the owners were relatives who ran the place together. Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants names Lynn Crawford as the chef and Cherie Stinson as the designer.

NOW Toronto, in an article dated 2010-03-30, described Crawford as the star of Food Network's Restaurant Makeover and said her partner in the Ruby Watchco venture, designer Cherie Stinson, also appeared on the show. It added that the series was then in reruns on Food Network on Thursdays. The same article said Crawford had helped overhaul Citizen, a Riverside space that later reopened as Ruby Watchco, for an earlier episode of the show. That article supplies background on the chef-and-designer pairing and does not mention this episode or this restaurant. According to Wikipedia's article on the series, the owner's funds were matched up to $20,000 in the early seasons and up to $15,000 later.

The sources reviewed do not describe the restaurant's condition when the team arrived, its menu before or after the work, any change of name, the budget or the relaunch, and none of those details is supplied here. No page read gives the restaurant's address at the time of the 2006 broadcast.

A Google Places listing for a business named Cafe Asia at 100 Front St W, Toronto, read on 2026-10-19, is marked permanently closed; the listing carries no closing date. Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants also marks the restaurant as no longer open, without a year or reason. A web search on 2026-10-19 pairing the name with that address and the word closed returned Toronto restaurant-closure articles for other businesses and no page about this restaurant.
