What happened after Restaurant Makeover?
Silk Road Cafe was the fourth episode of Restaurant Makeover's first season, aired 2005-04-26 according to the Google Play, Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb listings. Google Play's description says the owner had once traveled the ancient Silk Road trade route, that his restaurant had been declining, and that he had used his family's savings to keep it open. Rotten Tomatoes gives only the title. RealityTVWorld's show page credits chef David Adjey and designer Cherie Stinson, and describes the series format as a very limited budget and time, with owners' funds matched up to $20,000 (reduced to $15,000 in later seasons).
No street address appears in the episode listings. The Toronto setting rests on Google Play's description, which calls it the owner's Toronto restaurant. The address 341 Danforth Avenue is a lead from other sources and not from any source that names the show: NOW Magazine's Restaurant Guide 2001 lists a Silk Road at 341 Danforth and describes Southeast Asian fare, and a City of Toronto document titled Taste of the Danforth, List of Establishments, filed with 2008 committee papers but carrying no date of its own, lists Silk Road Cafe at 341 Danforth Avenue. We treat the match as likely rather than confirmed.
We found no description of what the chef and designer changed in the menu, the room or the staffing, and no coverage of a relaunch. We also found no dated source we could read on what became of the business afterward.
This entry therefore records the episode, the likely address, and the two older listings, and leaves the restaurant's current situation open until a readable, dated source turns up.
City of Toronto business licence records list Silk Road Cafe at 341 Danforth Avenue, licensed from 1997 until the licence was cancelled on 2006-06-17, and a successor named Taste of the Silk Road, licensed at the same address from 2005-07-13, about three months after the episode aired, until its licence was cancelled on 2013-09-18. According to the same records, the address was later licensed to Rikkochez (2017 to 2021) and Grill Gate (2021 to 2024), and Kababi Persian Cuisine has held an active licence there since 2024-07-29.

We work hard to keep every status accurate and dated, but restaurants change fast and our sources aren't perfect. If something here is wrong — a status, a name, an address, anything — tell us what you're seeing and where you saw it, and we'll check it.
