What happened after Restaurant Makeover?
St. Clair Village Cafe opened the third season of the Canadian series Restaurant Makeover, with its episode first airing on 2006-10-02. In each episode of the series a chef and a designer took over one restaurant and reworked it on a limited budget. According to Wikipedia's article on the series, the owner's own funds were matched up to $20,000, a cap later lowered to $15,000, and most of the featured restaurants were in the Greater Toronto Area.
Rotten Tomatoes' episode guide gives a one-line synopsis of this installment: an aging Italian eatery turned into a modern cafe. Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants names Massimo Capra as the chef and Cherie Stinson as the designer and places the cafe in Toronto. Those two pages are the fullest account of the episode found in the sources reviewed. They do not describe the owners, the budget, the menu before or after the work, any staff changes, or the relaunch, and nothing is supplied here that those sources do not support.
A Google Places lookup on 2026-10-19 returned a business named The Grind Cafe at 570 St Clair Ave W, but the name differs from the featured one and it was not used.
Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants carries a note that the restaurant is now Pizza e Pazzi and marks it as still open. That is a lead from a show list rather than a confirmed link. Streets of Toronto reported on 2011-12-13 that Pizza e Pazzi, a Neapolitan pizzeria on St. Clair West, was opening a second location at 672 St. Clair West, in the former site of the burger restaurant Chuck and Co., and that the original had opened less than a year earlier. Streets of Toronto's restaurant page for Pizza e Pazzi lists an address of 1182 St Clair Ave W and carries a 2025 copyright footer.
Neither Streets of Toronto page mentions St. Clair Village Cafe, so no source read for this entry ties the cafe to either Pizza e Pazzi address. A further search on 2026-10-19 for the cafe's name together with the show's title returned no result titled for the cafe itself.
City of Toronto business licence records contain one St. Clair Village Cafe, at 1022 St Clair Avenue West, licensed from 2013-10-16 until the licence was cancelled on 2015-01-16, and the records show no food business licensed at that address since. Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants says the cafe became Pizza e Pazzi, a Neapolitan pizzeria that City of Toronto records list at 1182 St Clair Avenue West since 2011, a different name and concept from the cafe on the show.

We work hard to keep every status accurate and dated, but restaurants change fast and our sources aren't perfect. If something here is wrong — a status, a name, an address, anything — tell us what you're seeing and where you saw it, and we'll check it.
